When it came out I bought The Serpent's Egg on vinyl and I thought it was their best up till then, but the other albums grew on me over time (have these albums now in their splendid audio quality on SACD from 4AD). My heart has held a special place for Serpent's Egg since its release. I just don't like them. The interview bits with Lisa and Brendan are quite good. I've had and sold several of their discs. They do nothing for me at all. With the later albums it was either that or more of the same (but not better, e.g. Dionysis is way too short, though! But let's not forget Brendan Perry's soothing voice on many of the songs. I was less convinced by their subsequent albums (but I may have missed one or two).
